The config files need to use a specific file name format.
And finally, what I ended up using, is to set up multiple configuration files, one for each sampling rate pointing to its stereo wave file.But with the config file one can use 2 mono wave files and map so that each channel of the music uses the appropriate wave file. Same as above, it will resample all other sampling rates to that frequency specified in the config file. To use 1 configuration file, which I had to create using their tutorial, in which for 1 sampling rate you specify which wave files to use.Example: convolution filter wave file is 44.1 kHz, all the music being played, be it 48 kHz, 96 kHz or DSD64, will be resampled to 44.1 kHz during playback before using that filter wave file. All music sampling rates will be resampled to use the sampling rate of the convolution wave file. One can go to Audio - DSP - Convolution and choose one the options below: FYI, Tidal dose not seamlessly steam through Jriver, they tried working out a deal but it fell through.JRiver Media Center has a very manual way of configuring it to use the convolution wave files ( see here). Everyone's systems will sound different but I've enjoyed streaming with Tidal and using Roon together to complete my music library.
All of My Morning Jacket's streaming albums are terrible sounding and are hard to listen too. They let you know with a little light indicator, but it's also obvious. You can easily tell on Tidal when you don't get a good version of a CD. If I was new to the game then yes, lossless streaming is the way to go.
With Tidal I'm able to find other versions, maybe a greatest hits or a completely different pressing that they used vs. For example, I have a several CDs that just aren't up to par for sound quality when they were made. Through my system I find that Tidal can sound as good as my CDs played through Roon or Tidal. If you have lots of CDs you should rip and enjoy listening to them. I wouldn't say Tidal sounds better but as good as your CDs on a given piece of software like Jriver, Roon, so on.
